Manasota Key

Manasota Key is divided squarely be-tween Charlotte and Sarasota counties, and the two ends of the island reflect this. The southern end, which contains the town of Englewood, is more developed and trendy, while the northern end offers a more secluded atmosphere. Both ends of the island contain wonderful beaches and friendly natives.

The beaches on Manasota Key are some of the loveliest in the Sarasota area. Located at the north end of Manasota Key, Manasota Beach is a 14-acre park, which includes 1,400 feet of gulf beach as well as a boat ramp and dock on the bayside. The main draw of the park is its secluded location, combined with its lovely natural setting. A 60-acre public preserve at the north end of Manasota Key, Blind Pass Beach features a wild and healthy beach that stretches for over half a mile. A nature trail next to the parking lot offers a peek at the fragile bayside habitat and ends at a quiet lagoon. At the southern end of the island lies Port Charlotte State Recreation Area. Step into the pine and mangrove canopy of this pristine state park, and you are instantly calmed. From this natural habitat, you venture out to the beach, which stretches for a mile down to Stump Pass.
